Exercise & Aquatic Therapy

Exercise & Therapy lunge_good_image.jpg

Most injures are caused by imbalances in our muscular skeletal system. Years of sitting, standing, working and exercising a certain way have caused muscles to weaken, shorten or tighten, all these and more lead to our skeletons being pulled out of alignment which leads to strains on joints and muscles. Whilst regular maintenance of massage or ‘controlled’ exercise can help prevent this sometimes you body just says ‘enough’ and an injury occurs. Exercise in a controlled manner along with muscle treatments to restore balance can help speed up recover times and prevent further injury.

A typical specific injury session would last 1 hour for the first consultation, followed by a treatment plan outlining timelines, expectations. Specific DVDs can be supplied to aid with cost effective exercise therapy.

Water Rehabilitation

water_running.jpgBy allowing you to do joint range of motion exercises, without the stress of weight bearing through the joint (due to the water supporting the body's weight), then rehabilitation is accelerated. Early cardiovascular training which is related to the heart and blood vessels, improves circulation and this improves healing.

Aqua training is ideal where you have an injury that requires a rest from the impact of your normal sport. It enables you to allow the injury to recover, without suffering a decline in your general fitness level. By maintaining your general fitness in the pool the recovery process is accelerated and you can get back to your sport faster.

The benefits of exercise in water can be continued, even after regaining full fitness. These include:

  • Water increases joint mobility and flexibility.
  • Water induces relaxation and provides a feeling of well-being.
  • Water pressure increases blood volume per heart stroke, enhancing conditioning.
