A sports injury doesn't necessarily mean that you have to be a sports person!! An injury is an injury, no matter what you were doing when it happened.
Maybe you’ve dislocated your shoulder - playing football, or broken your foot - playing football or damaged Cruciate Ligament – Playing football. OK so it’s not always football!!!
Whatever your injury and whatever your activity, even getting out of the car! There will be trauma to the muscles and surrounding tissues, massage can help alleviate this but to get those muscles working again targeted exercise to strengthen, build tone and flexibility are required. Aside from healing your current issues it will also help to prevent re-injury!
That’s where the therapy sessions come in……
At Origins clinic, massage plays a large role in the rehabilitation of an injury. Specialist massage tehcniques are used to manipuate the muslces and release issues within the muscle fibres.
Many times injury is brought about by imbalance in the bodies musculature rather than having had 'an incident' spark things off. The muscles have become imbalanced over time.... more commonly known as an overuse injury.
Overuse injuries are caused by overloading the same muscle over and over again, perhaps at work or the way you carry a child or poor posture.
It is in the case of such injuries that we need to look at specific exercises to lengthen and strengthen the correct muscle groups to allow swift and complete recovery.
At origins there is a wealth of knowledge in all areas of the biomechanics of physical activity so you know you will be given a thorough programme for recovery.
Injury Treatment Options
½ hour - once diagnosed this is the most typical treatment length
1 hour - if 'multiple' issues are present or the initial tretaments of a more 'chronic' issue
1 hour 30 minutes - typically an exercise session plus specific treatment and assisted stretches.
